Ship Deck
Fingal’s Cave is located on the uninhabited island of Staffa, in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It was formed entirely from hexagonally joined basalt columns within a Paleocene lava flow. From within the cave, it is common to hear a series of strange and eerie sounds. This is a result of the cave’s size and naturally arched roof, which collectively gives it the atmosphere of a natural cathedral.
